About

I'm Rongrong, an aspiring mechanical designer.

Welcome to my page! I hope you enjoy some of my favorite projects from my time at Carnegie Mellon.

I'm passionate about intuitive, smart design that improves lives in surprising ways. I want to work on the forefront of innovation, pushing the limits of automation and design. I take pride in my ability to prototype from a user-centered perspective, as I feel that empathy (combined with technical expertise) drives usability.

In order to build my skills, I've worked in mechatronics and other various research labs, a medical device start-up, and the robotics innovation center at Walmart. Outside of my work, I love running long distances, the arts, and instances of good storytelling. Please enjoy, and stay a while!

1

Carnegie Mellon NeuroMechatronics Lab

In 2023, I interned as a research engineer within a lab in the robotics institute. I worked primarily with stroke survivors to gather data. Using this data, I created simulations and novel experimental devices through 3D printing and circuitry.

2

Trio Labs, Inc.

In 2024, I worked as a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Trio Labs Inc., a medical device start-up based in Morrisville, North Carolina. I partook in hundreds of hours of machining, assembly, and documentation of their patented technology.

3

Walmart Innovation Center

For the summer of 2025, I worked at the Walmart Innovation Center in Bentonville, Arkansas as an Automation Engineer Intern. At the center of Walmart's in-house R&D program, I worked with and on the robots that run their supply chain, partaking in mechanism design, interdisciplinary research, and automation implementation.
